These are full-size or circumaural headphones. (Circumaural simply means that the ear cups fully enclose your ears, instead of just pressing onto them.) The circumaural design gives you a certain amount of noise isolation, so while Sennheiser HD 202 headphones don't have any noise-canceling technology, you'll find that they naturally block out a fair amount of ambient noise.
